Simatic S71200-modules
CPU - High speed I/O
On the SIMATIC S7-1200 you will find up to 6 high-speed inputs and 2 high-speed outputs. Three high-speed inputs, which are integrated on the base unit - CPU, can be used for frequencies up to 100 kHz. The high-speed outputs can be used for controlling stepper motors or for PWM pulse width modulation with a maximum frequency of 100 kHz. By inserting signal modules, we get high-speed inputs/outputs that allow us to work with frequencies up to 200 kHz!
CPU - Signal modules
One signal module can be inserted into all types of SIMATIC S7-1200 CPUs and thus expand the number of digital and analog inputs/outputs without increasing the space occupied in the cabinet. It serves as a supplement to the integrated I/O on the base unit. These are modules that can be inserted directly into the basic units of the S7-1200 series. Siemens currently offers analog, digital input and output signal modules, modules for connecting thermocouples and resistance sensors, RS485 communication module
Signal cards
Signal cards can be used to expand the number of digital and analog inputs/outputs on the base unit. Signal cards are connected from the right side of the CPU and their number depends on the type of CPU. The CPU 1211 allows no signal card to be connected, the CPU 1212 two and the CPU 1214 up to eight signal cards.
